Requires template-management access. Check the active property/global scope before changing a template used by operational email.
Steps
-
Open Email Templates in the intended property scope. Search and select Template Type; provider-managed types are not editable here.
-
Choose Create visual draft, or Open visual designer for an existing draft. A published version is read-only; creating a draft does not change the active email.
-
Enter the subject and edit the visual body in the designer. Preserve required template variables and any protected message content. Preview the draft and resolve validation errors. Birthday previews use the selected property's branding, sample guest details and a placeholder unsubscribe link; previewing does not send a greeting.
-
Use the designer test-send action, enter a test email address when prompted, and inspect the received message. Test sending can use the unsaved draft; it does not publish it.
-
Save the draft, then choose Publish email. Confirm the publication succeeds and check the template version and Recent Audit. If a concurrent edit is reported, reload the latest revision before retrying.
-
To restore a prior design, return to Version History, select the intended version and choose Rollback. Wait for Rollback complete. and review the resulting version/audit.
