Follow a saved workflow step by step to inspect its branches, inputs, and results. You need permission to manage Automations and a saved workflow with its validation issues resolved.
Steps
- Open the workflow and choose Save workflow draft if there are unsaved changes. In Test this workflow, enter a Synthetic test event with the sample values your steps need. For a condition using completed stays, an example is
{"guest":{"completed_stays":11}}. - Select Breakpoints for steps where you want the simulation to pause. To provide a particular sample result for a step, expand Synthetic node results and complete Synthetic result fixtures.
- Choose Start simulation. Use Step to advance one step or Continue to move to the next breakpoint. To stop at a particular step, select Run to node, then choose Run to selected node.
- For a waiting step, enter Advance virtual clock (seconds) and choose Advance clock. Review the displayed virtual time and the next result.
- Inspect the recorded outcome for each step. Open Inspect redacted inputs and outputs to compare the values used with the results returned. For repeated work or a nested sequence, open its For each item or Subflow editor and choose Execution instance to inspect that instance’s results on Canvas.
- Change the sample values and start another simulation to check a different branch. For a condition requiring more than ten completed stays, compare examples using ten and eleven.
- To return later, choose the session under Saved test sessions. Use Refresh session to retrieve its latest result, or Cancel test to end an active session.
The saved session records the workflow revision and the steps you inspected. Simulation uses sample results without sending messages, taking payments, or carrying out the workflow’s business actions.
If a session will not continue
Save current edits before starting a new simulation. A session keeps the revision with which it started; start a new one to inspect newer changes. If a result is uncertain, inspect it and adjust the sample inputs before starting another session. After a connection error, use Refresh saved session before repeating a command.
