Set how much automation work can run and who should be notified when work needs attention.

Before you start

Use a role with automation management and property-settings access. Whole-account changes also require account-administrator access.

Save a policy

  1. Open Automations → More → Settings → Limits.
  2. Choose Policy scope: Whole account, This property or Selected workflow. For a workflow policy, use Find a workflow (optional) and select it under Workflow limits.
  3. Set Maximum unfinished runs, Daily workflow starts and Hourly operational actions.
  4. Set Alert after waiting in queue (seconds) and Alert after waiting for approval (seconds) to define when waiting work needs attention.
  5. Set Keep debug details (days) and select up to ten Alert recipients.
  6. Select the acknowledgement confirming you reviewed the limits, recipients and retention settings.
  7. Choose Save runtime policy.

Expected outcome

The saved policy governs the selected scope. Account, property and workflow limits apply together; daily and hourly counting uses UTC. Debug retention does not remove the underlying payment or operational receipts.

If a policy cannot be saved

Use Refresh policy when another person has changed the saved revision, then review your values again. Check the selected scope and your permissions if account-wide controls are unavailable. Review resulting alerts under Settings → Alerts.
