To create or update a recipe bill of materials, use Inventory → Recipes. You need recipe management access and the inventory ledger feature. A menu item and a valid source location must exist in the selected property.

Steps

  1. Open Inventory → Recipes and choose Build a recipe to review and save a complete recipe.

  2. Select the menu item whose recipe you want to create or update.

  3. Select its source location and enter or review the ingredient lines.

  4. Check ingredient names, quantities, units and mappings to inventory items. Resolve missing mappings or unit conversions before saving lines tracked for sale consumption.

  5. Review the full recipe, including ingredients removed from an existing BOM, and save it.

Saving in Build a recipe replaces the menu item's current BOM with the reviewed version. If someone has changed it since you opened it, reload the latest recipe and review your changes again before saving. This prevents overwriting another person's edits.

Edit many ingredients also lets you add, edit or delete individual ingredient components. Those component changes update the corresponding lines; they do not replace the entire recipe in one save. Check the resulting recipe after making multiple component changes. Its source-location editor saves the full reviewed BOM and requires the current version.
